5 differences between whales, orcas, dolphins and other categories on Steemit
Some of the biggest questions on everyone’s lips on Steemit are: Who is a whale? What does it take to be one? How are dolphins different from say, minnows?
Whales are kings of the ocean
Like many people out here on the Steemit platform, when I was introduced to Steemit, this was also one of the first questions I asked.
In fact, many even mistake a minnow for a newbie. Do minnow and newbie mean the same thing? No, not at all.
Finally, the answers are at your doorstep
Well, trouble yourself no further. I have brought you all the answers you need to know the basic differences between a whale and!
Dolphins are lovely creatures, but you can be a whale too.
Classification on Steemit
When Steemit was founded about two years ago, it was important that cadres were built into the system, not for segregation or to divide the Steemit community into stratas but to establish order, provide extra motivations to invest more in the community and climb up the ladders.
One easy way of explaining the categories on Steemit is that categorization on Steemit is proof of one’s involvement and investments (time, resources, relationships and money) in the Steemit community.
Categories on Steemit
S/N | Categories | Steem Power (SP) |
---|---|---|
Stage 1 | Red fish | <500 SP |
Stage 2 | Minnow | 500 SP to <5,000SP |
Stage 3 | Dolphin | 5,000 SP to <50,000SP |
Stage 4 | Orca | 50,000 SP to <500,000SP |
Stage 5 | Whale | 500,000SP and above |
NB
While the above categorization is largely correct and factual, it should be noted, however, that categorisation into whales, orcas, dolphins, minnows and redfish on Steemit is based more on MVests than on SP (Steem power).
