Do governments help decentralization or mislead the movement?steemCreated with Sketch.

If you ask me about the mostly liked government in its attitude in recent year, I would say, with no doubt: CANADA. But Governments, always make the worry, they are going to ruin all the good things! As Milton Friedman used to say "The government solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem."*

Canada has approved its first blockchain exchange-traded fund (ETF*) which is set to launch on the Toronto Stock Exchange next week.
Harvest Portfolio said the fund will invest “in equity securities of issuers exposed, directly or indirectly to the development and implementation of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies”.

Now we have to see, if the Canadian gov fails this time on a trendy issue which was supposed to be more lead by people (as it is in the entire world) or they will success to regulate and use the technology in a way which will be accepted by people and used by them.

P.S.
Friedman's minor thesis is that the role of government in a free society is properly limited to maintaining law and order, preventing coercion of one individual by another, enforcing private property and contracts, and providing for the common defense and a common monetary system.
I have written a post on Friedman's ideology before. please take a look at it.

P.S.
An ETF, or exchange-traded fund, is a marketable security that tracks an index, a commodity, bonds, or a basket of assets like an index fund. Unlike mutual funds, an ETF trades like a common stock on a stock exchange. ETFs experience price changes throughout the day as they are bought and sold.

Steemit trade-able tokens like Steem and Steem Dollar are samples of ETF.

Governments across the world are concerned about the anonymous nature of crypto transactions. Because, such transactions do not allow them to trace & collect taxes, thus hurting revenue. Apart from this concern, I don't see a reason for their discontent.

Governments were concerned about decentralized media too. But it happened!

Agree. Decentralized(& Independent) media was a threat to their "image" & now decentralized currency is a threat to their revenue.
