A Python program to calculate the real worth of your Steemit account
A few days ago, @jbn posted this article, in which he explained that the estimated account value shown in your steemit wallet is not based on the current price of STEEM and SBD. For example, he said that the value of STEEM used to calculate the estimated account value is the average of the value of STEEM for the last 7 days.
So, if you want to calculate the real value, you would probably go to coinmarketcap and check the value of STEEM and SBD from there, and then take out a calculator to multiply those values with the amount of STEEM and SBDs that you have, to get the final value.
However, I have made a simple program, that can do this for you. All you need to tell the program is the amount of SBD and STEEM that you have. The program would then get the current value of STEEM and SBD from coinmarketcap using the coinmarketcap python api, and show your real steemit account worth both in USD and BTC.
You can find this python program at https://github.com/HamidMushtaq/steemtools/blob/master/steemaccworthcalc.py. To use it, you would first have to install the coinmarket python api by typing pip install coinmarketcap. In Windows, if you don't have Python, you would also need to install it.
For example, in my case the estimated account value shown by Steemit wallet is $2,644. But if I use my program, I get the following output, which shows that my total account worth is $3722 or 0.33 BTC.
Enter the amount of STEEM you have: 607.116
Enter the amount of SBDs you have: 6.782
Price of SBD = $7.37 (0.000657 BTC)
Price of STEEM = $6.05 (0.000539 BTC)
The total worth of your SBDs = $50.00 (0.004454 BTC)
The total worth of your STEEM = $3672.48 (0.327108 BTC)
The total worth of your Steemit account = $3722.48 (0.331562 BTC)

I want to learn Python , How many hours it takes to cover basics ?
Its one of the simplest programming languages out there, so shouldn't take that much time.
I am good in core and advanced java , will learn python from now on . I looked at your program , looks simple smooth . Less syntax then java .

No, haven't tried them yet. However, I don't think they would be difficult to make.
