STEEM PARK's New Dedicated Fabrication Center

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

New week, new progress on our STEEM PARK project! As we start developing both the on-site designs and the prizes for our donors, we @hitheryon have found the perfect place to start prototyping and “digi-fabbing” the world's first crypto-fueled public space.

Welcome to WOMP

WOMP Studio is a startup fabrication company based out of East Williamsburg. The running partners, Gaby and Maki, specialize in 3d-modeling, prototyping, and fabricating objects by using an array of softwares and machines. Since knowing these incredibly accommodating fellows, I've seen them work on some pretty cool things including print plastic fabrics and even scanning 2,500 yr-old Ecuadorian artifacts to print at larger scale.

Their dedicated space is buzzing with NINE 3d printing machines, two massive lasercutters, and 3-axis milling machine... a veritable candy store for makers and creators. As we utilize each technology, we'll provide a step-by-step visual walkthrough so you can learn about these advancements as well.

- Have you watched Westworld? We could print an army.

Big Wompy Goals

We've partnered with WOMP to get dedicated fabrication advice and access to their spectrum of technologies, allowing us to directly use their machines and cut way down on costs and time. Since @voronoi and I have substantial experience in fabrication, plugging ourselves in to take advantage of these facilities was as smooth as butter.

- The "dirty" room

We'll be experimenting with a series of materials for our projects at Herbert von King Park, including a high-tech biodegradable and corn-based printable material. This will allow us to fully implement planter designs without fear of harming the earth with the usual insoluble polymers that most 3d-printers use.

As we rev up our digital engines, be sure to check out prizes page to see how you can contribute to the project and earn yourself some cool digi-fab swag!

Wow! This is SUPER cool! Thanks for sharing, I need to keep an eye on this as you'll share some more. Namaste :)

LOTS of updates coming up this week and for weeks to come. Stay tuned!!

It's exciting to see the updates!!

Thanks for the support! There's a lot happening on our side at the moment and we realized we should probably sit down and update the Steemit community... :P

Hehe! It's going to be amazing I am sure!

It's becoming more exciting and interesting. Thanks for inform about all stages.

Thank you for the support!

Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic and cool @hitheryon

The scanning of the Ecuadorian artifacts really catches my attention. If you can replicate such things, then perhaps that will also allow you to branch off into Museum work. Possibly helping archaeologists unravel even more mysteries about our past.

It's very cool stuff. It's getting a lot easier to replicate and scan artifacts which brings the whole role of museums into question...

That's a BIG printer..Looking forward to future posts:)

That it is... They'll have it up and running once German engineers tinker with it this month. Hopefully we may be able to use it for the project!

Cool..I've been keeping an eye on the Big rep. Love 2 see some prints once you guys get up and running. :)
