Porn On Steemit?
Well it was bound to happen... Saw my first porn post on the new tab. Had only been up for a few seconds and it was tagged correctly but the ah "content" was visible without having to click on the post.
Whats the protocol for porn content? What do you think? Flag it? Let it go if its tagged properly? We all know that the internet can get pretty raunchy pretty quick and no one wants Steemit taken over by porn bot and adds.
There are also children in the Steemit community.
Let me know y'all opinions in the comments.
hi there dear @harleymechanix i was so confuse two when i saw this awesome sentence , but not the picture , and it have this smal red stuff nfws like a warning for adult content , as i was a little curious and perv i have cliked and see the pics omg , ahahah so for me if they have this red stuff now i know that the pics must have hard stuff , can be pron or brain on the road , as i seen later , for pron is normal stuff if its properly registred and believe me boys and girls look pron at a very young age from now years that life we adult lie lie lie obviously it should just be well registred i not seen any child on steemit alos , dont know i am single also so to seen some boobies not chock me but big cocks or semen yes a little cose i never knwo who is behind me ahahaha best regard

It's a tough one. Porn has it's place, I'm no prude :-) That said, it's definitely not what I come to Steemit for. As a decentralized platform, I think unless something is clearly hate speech - it should be allowed.
That said, there should be controls and labels, and it sounds like there are (I've never posted porn lol so don't know). Live and let live. While I've heard steemit compared to a lot of social media sites, to me it's most like reddit, at least superficially...threads for all walks of life.
Hopefully in future updates, Steemit will be a bit more organized, and maybe even have more specific communities so that we never run into content that doesn't fit our tastes.
@blunderbabe I'm no prude either. I was just wondering what others takes were on this. Is it up to the community to self regulate it? Or are there official rules regulate content? Thanks for the input.
Haha I hope you don't think I was calling YOU a prude ! But seriously it's a great question and one I've been wondering too - obviously porn is a blatant one - but other topics fall into the realm of taboo...what's the solution?
What's the time & place? Or section? I don't feel that anyone who doesn't want to look at anything they deem appropriate should have to...that said, if there's a group of Steemians who want to discuss insert taboo or controversial thing here where can they do it within Steemit.
I didn't even know about the NSFW settings until now.... the steemit gods should create a button on posts - like a flag - but instead of something getting taken down, if it got enough say...NSFW or "Adult" votes - it could be hid from Steemians unless they choose to view it?

One reason for this platform is freedom of speech, therefore, this type of content has its place. It's not up to me to legislate my morality onto others. I noticed from the below comments you found out about the "never show" option. I am glad Steemit does allow me to have control over content like this in regard to moral standing as I don't want my feed filled with this type of content. Nice post.
