Bitcoin falls below 8 thousand dollars after restrictions of Twitter
The cryptocurrency fell after the social network announced that it would prohibit advertising and transactions of digital currencies through its platform.
Following the announcement of Twitter that it will ban cryptocurrency ads, bitcoin started the week on a negative note, pushing the biggest drop in digital currencies this month.
At 12:50 hours in Mexico City, the cryptocurrency fell 8.22 percent to 7 thousand 907 dollars.
The social network reported on Monday that will prohibit on its platform the announcements of initial offers of coins and symbolic sales. The decision comes after Facebook in January also restricted the advertising of cryptocurrency.
Starting in June, Google will join both companies, as it will not allow ads, in a broader effort to end misleading advertising on its website.
After reaching a record high of almost $ 20,000 in December, bitcoin fell 60 percent as investors reconsidered the outlook for the digital currency and regulators around the world increased scrutiny.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission sent several subpoenas earlier this month to teams of initial coin offers (ICO) that they suspect are violating securities regulations, and has warned since July that some of the deals may be infringing the securities regulations.
Twitter said on March 7 that it was implementing measures to prevent crypto-states.
