I've thinking about doing this for awhile. Very few other crypto traders have been publishing their results. Ever since the spike in the value of Steem, I've been trying to figure out a way to protect it. There are two way to maintain returns and protect capital. Diversification and Hedging.
Diversify
One way is to diversify your portfolio. In order to diversify my portfolio, I've moved some of my Steem into other crypto currencies. This has required me to power down. Some of the other assets include Bitshares, Bitcoin, Etherium, and LiteCoin. To convert to these assets I use two exchanges - Openledger and Coinbase. I tried using Poloniex, but ran into some counter-party risk. Poloniex wouldn't transfer my Steem until it had a major devaluation.
Hedging
Another way to protect and maintain returns is to hedge your positions. Granted diversification can be used as a hedge, but what I'm talking about is using options. The nice thing about selling options, you get theta decay. You can buy or sell options with puts and calls.
Positions
My major postions in options is credit call spreads in FXE - An ETF based on the Euro. At this moment I'm shorting the Euro. My trade positions is long crypto. My hedge is long Dollar. I cannot directly trade the Dollar in options so I use the Euro as a proxy for the Dollar. Both of these underlyings are normally inversely correlated. In order to get long the Dollar, I have to short the Euro.
