Although it may appear that Mark Zuckerberg controls facebook he is tied to the board of directors that is part of the start up firm that got Facebook to the next level. Facebook is already a prime surveillance tool for our government and will continue to be run with the supervision of the government more than we may realize. 

Steemit can break free from this as it is more tailored towards real free speech and a decentralized democratic system that is run by the members.

Facebook owns multiple data centers around the world to power its massive user base. Ready to scale up and down with traffic flows facebook has been able to maintain an excellent uptime reinforcing its title to the belt.

Steemit has the ability to evolve into every much and more of a social media platform as facebook. By rewarding it’s users with something of practical value it is setting a new standard of how an organization can operate in relation to its users. It has shown that it is possible to share the wealth and still grow and this will help Steemit win the battle in the end.

Still one question remains and that is now that facebook knows about this new contender on the block will they try and copy it, integrate it, buy it, or just go on with business like usual. Time will tell.
