Catfish, A Steemit Episode

Everyone knows of the TV show Catfish, if not it is a show about people who fall in love with others they meet online, they have these relationships for long periods of time before they finally get to the point that they want to meet this other person and move their relationship to the next level. The people behind the show then get involved and start to investigate the person in question, they do this by checking their pictures through Google image search, Reverse phone number look ups and Social media cross referencing.

It occurred to me that there might possibly be some Catfish in our Ecosystem and this could mean trouble for those who fall for the act. Verification is key on here and this is a great way to Validate accounts, however I believe it is way to easy to have some chick you know hold a sign and say Hi I am so and so, all the while it is really some old fat perv behind the screen. In our case the perv may not be true, but someone very intelligent might be playing the system. It has slowed down recently, but I remember one day where like 5-10 chicks joined all at once and yes they all had signs.

These same accounts are now inactive and have not posted anything else to the site. I am sure this is a common occurrence and is one that might be too hard to weed out, but at the same time there needs to be a better Verification process in play to know who you are in investing in, is in fact that person. I think Catfish would have a field day here.
