RE: Daily Steem Stats Report - Wednesday, September 25, 2019
Regarding Waivio bots:
Waivio is a business layer on Steem blockchain. Bots are being used to maintain the base level of the platform which is the Object Reference Protocol. This is how users can create business listings, product and service descriptions, catalogs and directories, legal documents and wiki pages, and other objects on Steem.
Example : Catch Kitchen + Bar Restaurant
The objects are independent entities and any Steem member can improve any listing by publishing updates.
Example: https://www.waivio.com/object/ehk-catch-kitchen-bar/updates
Each update adds a field to the listing, such as a title, description, map location, phone, website, business hours and so on. Each update can be Approved or Disapproved by the other Steem members and if consensus is achieved (more than 70% have approved the update), it is added to the listing.
Some fields, such as an icon, will have only one winning image, while the photo gallery can contain several images sorted according to their rankings.
Updates are recorded on the Steem blockchain by Waivio bots as comments to a header message for a specific type of objects.
There are several reasons why these comments are posted by bots rather than by the users themselves:
- updates must be immutable (the author should not be able to modify the update at a later date, once it has been reviewed and approved by the community);
- users may not have enough resource (RC) credits to post multiple comments;
- technical updates should not clutter the user's personal comment feeds.
In order to avoid abuse of the bots, users who submit updates are required to vote for these updates with a minimum vote of $0.001.
The original author of the update is also credited as the 70% beneficiary of the posted comment.
