hello @journeyoflife, the reason is that steem is the coin,and the "old logo " as you put it is the logo for that coin ! Steemit is just one of many platforms of this said coins distribution ! There has been quite a bit of confusion over this and so i do believe that its a good idea to keep this clear in the minds of all of the steem users community !I actually like the Logo, the meeting of two ideas, nice, very Jing and Jang too, the balance or consensus of ideas !
