What I Love Best About Steem

Simply put, Steem isn't just a direct challenge to the Mark Zuckerbergs, Eric Schmidts and Jack Dorseys of the world, the wanna-be nuveau-riche oligarchs. It is far more than that.

Steem claws back a portion of the value they extract from us through rapacious data mining by utilizing their systems, like YouTube, and the profits those systems earned. Now, these Sith Lords are not only curtailing our speech but work with the government to help them do so.

Think about it. Steem is a system with value based on the content we produce. But, some of that value was built with tools of our would-be oppressors. They can take away monetizing our YouTube channels because they don't like the content but so, what? We can now monetize it through Steem, and at likely better rates. And there's nothing Google can do about it.

Better yet, we are now nothing but a drain on their servers.

We're not commenting and sharing on their network, building density and traffic to drive higher ad rates. We're doing those activities here on Steemit. YouTube will become just a streaming server farm that Steem and other networks like it that will slowly drain white.

The more Google acts like they own us the more people will reject their bullshit. And that won't stop us from still using their systems to our advantage.

Steem will force Google to spend money serving our data which they don't get a cut of anymore.

And that clawing back of the value inherent in our work is what will drive the build out of replacement systems for YouTube during the explosive growth phase of the Steem network. The money we earn will pay for the servers and the bandwidth used.

They thought they owned us because they own the transmission systems for our ideas. But without us YouTube is just another fucking app waiting for someone to ping it. Twitter is so easily replaced that it hasn't been done yet speaks volumes to how bad Facebook and Reddit have become.

They are like every other tyrant that thought by controlling the road or the waterway they controlled the people who use it.

But, that story always end the same way. A new route or technology will drive out that profit margin by creating a complementary product.

Steem is that complement to the first generation anti-social networks that only ever saw you as a mark. Turning the tables on a slimy little shit like Zuckerberg is, honestly, all the reward I need. But the STEEM is nice as well.
