I ran across a "Meme" on FaceBook this Morning.....

The caption read - "Imagine being outraged that the President called this a s#@t hole."

What struck me immediately, was the sheer bigotry of this. I was amazed at the lack of knowledge the person who made this was exhibiting. Maybe just absolute laziness, engaged in, by a privileged white person, in the US., too busy playing video games on the couch to learn the truth about anything.

Haiti is an Island that's been economically raped over - and over for hundreds of years!!!

Hanes has reported profits of 690 Million a year, yet the workers that make your "Tighty Whiteys" in Haiti, are routinely forced to work 'Off the clock", aren't paid overtime when they work it, and are generally paid 30% less than what they are legally owed.

The Clinton Foundation raised about $30 million for relief in Haiti, after the recent devastating earthquake, yet almost none of that reached the Island.

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, suppressed an effort in Haiti to raise the minimum wage. Workers in the garment industry there wanted to get the minimum wage increased to an outlandish 61 cents per hour. It wouldn't matter anyhow, because more than half of the Country's sweat shops get away with paying less than the current rate of $5.11 per day.

The US Government long supported Jean-Bertrand Aristide who was President (Dictator) down there ... Off and on... From 1991 to 2004. He was known for having his opponents "Necklaced" A tire was put over the victim's head, doused with gasoline, and lit on fire.

Before that the US supported Jean-Claude [Baby Doc] Duvalier.... Who was known to have executed at least 30,000 of his enemies, and any workers who attempted to organize for better wages.

Sexual exploitation is rampant in US Corporate owned sweat shops there. If a woman wants to keep her "Shit Hole" job, paying as little as 21 cents per hour.... She must spread her legs frequently for the plant manager. This is one of the reasons, HIV / AIDS is rampant there.

National Sewing Contractors, which makes Pajamas for Disney, pays workers as little as 12 cents per hour. Workers there can often have to work 12 hour days 7 days a week for months at a time.

If you want to gloat in your privileged middle class lifestyle, without knowing the facts.... At least you should change your underwear!!!
