Request: Post Scheduling [Steemit Feature]

Where's My Feature?

Writing posts can be hard work, and I'm sure it's quite a bummer for many when a a sparkling new idea pops up in your head, but in order to type it out, you either have to remove the post you are already working on, save it onto a Word document, or change browser.

So how about incorporating a feature into the Steemit poster function that both lets you save multiple posts you're working on, and schedule posts to be posted on a particular date?

I think it's a marvelous idea. Since Steemit proclaims itself to be a blogging platform, then let's the most out of it, shall we?

Here's Facebook's scheduling function:

Let's Bulk It Up a Notch!

The Facebook scheduler is one of Facebook's most used features. It lets the user plan ahead and write up an infinite amount of posts in advance, allowing them to complete an entire week's worth of postings, should they feel like doing so. Now, how cool would that be on Steemit? It would save days of work, since many prefer to do all the writing and typing and one sitting instead of coming back over and over again to post every day. Sometimes it's just easier to bulk it up and be done with it.

I used to think the time of the post was important but I don't think so anymore.

would be interesting to have though.

That's not the point at all; a post scheduler allows users to plan days ahead and write posts in advance. That is, it has nothing to do with what time to post necessarily, but works as a tool to save a lot of time, assuming someone doesn't have time to be on Steemit every day, but to rather do everything in one day and then you're done with it for the whole week. Get it?

ah so... I see what you need it for. Makes sense.

Yep! Think of it like this: You've got an excellent idea for a post on Christmas eve, but don't have access to a computer. Now, a scheduler would make it possible to write that post beforehand and then have it scheduled to be released on Christmas eve. Problem solved!

Keep in mind that due to the way the Steem blockchain technology works, if you want to schedule a post to be submitted on your behalf in more than 2 days into the future, you will be forced to give up your posting authority to the service that posts on your behalf.

There are already outside services that are trying to cater to this market (e.g. ladder.net). Once again, you would need to trust them with your posting key.

Though I can't speak for them, my guess is that Steemit would prefer to not deal with the responsibility of having access to users' posting keys, so I'm not really expecting this feature to come to steemit.com anytime soon (although again, they could in theory implement a version that posts on your behalf at most 2 days in the future starting from the time you click the Schedule button).

Oh, I see! Thanks for that piece of information. Will look into it further.

This feature should be here. Everyone should have it.

I completely agree.

I spend a lot of time writing each of my travel or food posts and I'm currently working on a short story series that I'd like to come out at a regular time for my followers to enjoy and KNOW when to expect it. Irregularity in posting may peeve some readers if they're really enjoying your content.

Thanks for the article.
