Apple Pie in 35 minutes
This recipe has been tried and tested for someone who needs to get dessert ready in 35 minutes. Create the ultimate dessert to impress the in-laws, friends or that gorgeous first date. This apple pie serves 6 people, or in generous portions, 4 people who come back for seconds, as your apple pie tastes that good with its hot, moist centre and crumbly biscuit-like crust!

- ½ Cup of Sugar. PS: don’t overdo it, with sugar on sugar if you using sweetened apples
- 2 table spoons of all-purpose raising baking flour
- ¼ teaspoon of salt ( Do not A-SALT the pie!!) lol
- 2/3 teaspoon of cinnamon to add some flavour
- ½ table spoon of lemon juice for that zesty zest
- Refrigerated pie crusts for the crumbly pastry base
- Icing sugar to decorate the cake
- Whipped cream and Vanilla Ice-cream to serve with your dish
Steps and Method: Bitchin’ in the Kitchin’
Let’s get to work. Smack on that apron, blast the jams and roll out the doe. Time to bake.
STEP 1:If you decide to use raw apples pre-cook the apples the night-before ; if you are using canned apples (recommended), open her up and drain the apple juice out the can. While you are creating your pastry, heat the oven to 230°C ( for my American friends, that 446°F).
STEP2: Place 1 pie crust in an ungreased oven-safe glass pie plate. Press firmly against side and bottom in order to mould the crust to your plate. This is what makes the apple crumble base and gives your dessert that 'oh-my-God' expression as you dig into your dessert. Mix your ingredients, the apples, sugar and salt in some baking flour.
STEP3:Gently mix the filling ingredients in a large bowl; spoon into crust-lined pie plate. Place your apples on top of the crust . Take your apple juice from the canned apples and place some in the dish or alternatively if using real apples, place some sugar and salt and lemon zest. Top your pie with the second crust to enclose the pie. Wrap the excess top crust under bottom crust edge, pressing edges together to seal; flute. Cut slits or shapes in several places in top crust to allow the steam to escape and prevent your pie from exploding. Sprinkle the cinnamon.
Final steps
STEP4:Bake 20 to 35 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown. Cover edge of crust with wide strips of foil after first 15 to 20 minutes of baking to prevent excessive browning. Cool on cooling rack and sprinke icing sugar on top or serve HOT with whipped cream or ice-cream.
STEP 5: Enjoy thoroughly and do not give your friends the recipe. Claim the spoils of the bake-off for yourself.
