Bid Bots and and SBD Price
I am completely not a fan of bid bots, I think that they take away from the essence of Steemit, well at least from my idea about what it should be.
And now as I see the price of SBD going apparently inexorably back to the peg of 1 SBD to 1 USD, I actually thought that that would be the end of bid bots, with the price of SBD so low it would be counter productive to bid on these up votes as you would end up losing unless you got way over a 200% up vote.
But you know something, I just started checking out figures on a spreadsheet and actually the return is better if the price of SBD is down to $1.00, the Steem that goes to SP is the same regardless of what price Steem is at, as the dollar price supposedly remains stable, but I will place 2 examples:
I buy 100 SBD from a bid bot and I get a 200% return SBD is at $2.00 the numbers would be:
I spend $200.00 (100 SBD X $2.00) - and I get $200.00 pay from these, minus $50.00 curation, I keep $150.00 divided into 75 SBD and 75 Steem, SBD75 X 2= $150.00 plus 75 Steem= $.75.00 Total $225.00 profit $25.00.
I buy 100 SBD from a bid bot and I get a 200% return SBD is at $1.00 the numbers would be:
I spend $100.00 (100SBD X $1.00) - and I get $200.00 pay from these, minus $50.00 curation, I keep $150.00 divided into 75 SBD and 75 Steem, SBD75 X 1= $75.00 plus 75 Steem= $75.00 Total $150.00 profit $50.00.
And I tried this with a lot of values for SBD, the lower it goes the more profit for the buyer, at least when it returns 200% on your investment. Maybe that is why so many witnesses want to bring down the SBD price to $US1.00.
Of course it could be that my math is wrong.
Seems very straightforward to me, there still a profit to be made. As long as you can replicate a profit of operation, there is a reason to do it.
I have not used a bit bot yet, but I'm considering now as advice from other higher-level steemians.
