Steemit SQL on a smartphone
Hi Steemians,
On a very boring train ride back up north following day job meetings, my mind started to wonder, as you do, on to all things Steemit.
Having recently read an excellent post by @arcange regarding their work on creating and maintaining a public SQL server database with all Steemit blockchain data (https://steemit.com/steemit/@arcange/steemsql-com-a-public-sql-server-database-with-all-steemit-blockchain-data)
I started to think about if it is possible to run some simple queries against the database using my smartphone. Guess what.... It is!
My phone is an android based Huawei P10 lite and my SQL knowledge is really [really] limited so it is a good job there are plenty on Steemit posts to help.
Anyhow... on to Google's play store and a searched for 'SQL' this bought up a number of apps, a lot were learning SQL but one caught my eye 'SQL client' and so I thought I would give this a try.
Next was to set up the connection to the database. Upon opening the app I pressed the + button and selected 'Microsoft SQL server'. Added the details as per @arcange post [password: steemit] and pressed the 'TEST CONNECTION'
Hooray! Now we're are connected, now to run a simple query.

So it turned out not to be such a boring train ride after all.
Now that's working - no more boring train journeys as I will be learning SQL on Steemit data - Happy Days!
