An investigation into who may be behind the recent attacks on myself and steemcleanerssteemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Recently I personally have come under attack yet again for flagging a spammer and removing a payout he thought he deserved for spamming. I was actually nice in this case and didn't hide his post since it was a decent post. I just flagged it as a warning. This account was using the name softgrip. A few days later I flagged another account for spam and plagiarism. That account (blockcodes) started spamming hate against myself and steemcleaners both via comments and posts and on steemit chat. I received dox threats via pm on steemit chat. The user would post stuff fishing for info then remove it a few minutes later as you can see in the screenshot below.

After spamming more this user was added to cheetah. Almost immediately the user pjheinz resteems blockcodes FUD posts about steemcleaners. Then he starts making similar posts. Coincidence? I think not. So over the last few days of monitoring their activity I noticed some things that made it all make sense. Lets go back to softgrip who joined blockcodes and pjheinz on steemit chat by this time and even went as far as partially doxing me.

This screenshots shows something every interesting. I noticed that as a low rep account softgrip had some decent steempower at 450. Looking into where he got it I found about half came from minnowbooster. The other half came from an account called estonia.

So I took a look at that estonia account. Noticed it too was using minnowbooster (seems to be a pattern of abuse of minnowbooster) but that wasn't what caught my eye. One transaction that was near the top of the list at that time stood out to me:

So this estonia account is upvoting the biggest scammer steemit has ever known: noganoo. They are also downvoting some interesting people. Mostly people that do good for steemit. Now why would they do that? Well to me the answer became obvious when I looked back at the creation of the account:

So what is so special about that one transaction? Well account juurop I knew from a chat before I came to steemit. Most people on steemit know him as ubg. One of his alts. One of many. He claimed to have over 10000 accounts. What happened to those accounts? Well many of them ended up in the hands of guess who? noganoo. If you don't know noganoo has been using some of those old ubg accounts and a lot of new ones to vote himself some nice rewards. Those low sp accounts don't do much individually but one a hundred or thousand upvote a post those fractions of a cent add up to dollars. They are also used to attack people that try to fight his abuse. You can see one revenge flagging here on one of sneak's comments:

Over 1000 downvotes on that comment from the noganoo bot army. Who is also downvoting that? estonia right at the top with the most steem power. So lets take a look at pjheinz and blockcodes. Well well who has upvotes from the noganoo bot army? Both of those accounts.

By this point we had long know that pjheinz was blockcodes from doing some other research. I can't reveal those methods as it could compromise our abuse fighting efforts. Just for further evidence they are the same person this happened last night:

Notice the same make a threat then remove it pattern as blockcodes.

So we have 2 accounts known to be the same person blockcodes and pjheinz. We have account softgrip who is clearly tied to estonia that is one juurop's (ubg's) accounts probably in use by noganoo. What does this boil down to? It's a person or group that either is or supports noganoo. All this is pure revenge for him being exposed as the scammer he is and actions being taken to stop that self upvoting bot army of his. He is going to great lengths to make up figures based on some factual data. Taking data such as the highest number of comments and multiplying that by 365 to get a huge figure for number of posts. Same with steemcleaners earnings. Take the most earned and multiply that and leave out those weeks when there were under $100 earned. It's all a campaign to discredit myself and steemcleaners.

So when you see those posts attacking steemcleaners and myself ask yourself why would someone want to attack a group of people who dedicated themselves to making steemit a better place............. In this case the evidence of why is on the blockchain.

Thanks dude for all this information about your investigation, yes people they can abuse by using down vote to attack people

Wow, never knew there's this side to steemit. I'm new by the way, barely two weeks old. I guess I've only seen the great side of it.

Fubars post is contains a lot of FUD. However, Blockcodes was indeed quite abusive.

Do not blindly think that this is a service helping you, unless they change some of their staff.

We try to keep it so people only do see the good parts. Work hard every day at fighting the abusers.

Thank you for this great service.

is gonna be a way to solve this problems generated by downvotes?

This sounds like so much work and a huge pain in the butt. I'm glad someone is doing it, though.

It's a ton of work. Rarely do I not put at least 8 hours a day into it and that is every day including holidays. Haven't taken a single day off in probably over 10 months.

It does come with a lot of headaches too. Personal attacks, revenge flaggings, even a death threat.

Just vote n follow

that pjheinz was harassing me as well yesterday just because i asked if it was frustrated ? i guess the answer was yes :)
