In the struggle for consistency, the place of quality must never be destroyed. - Fi

Repetition is a very strong action that could make you a master of almost any craft. What you repeat doesn't really matter, as long as you're doing a thing over and over, you'll keep getting better at it.

Now in your quest for greatness, we strive to work at our craft repeatedly with the hope that someday, we'll become rockstars. We picture these days clearly in our head, it's almost real.

Then along the line you begin to run out of steam. Now willpower is a lot different from steam so you try to push on with sheer willpower. You remember the commitment you made to yourself to put out quality content daily but today you realize you just might not be able to meet up. It's 11pm and the day is almost over. You need to put something out there but you also don't want it to be of any less quality. What do you do?

How To Not Shit Post

  • First thing you need to do is breathe!

It's true you made a commitment to publish at least one great post a day but you need to realize that not being able to meet up won't be the end of the world for you.

Yes it might look like you're breaking your commitment and becoming inconsistent but those are just tags that aren't strong enough to allow you compromise on quality.

  • Next thing is to realize that the whole process is not to serve as a routine but to help you learn and improve on yourself.

If you see it this way, then you'll know that even in learning, it's not the quantity that matters but the quality of the lessons.

Making improvements 3 times a week is a lot better than pushing through routines 7 days a week and learning nothing new.

  • Pick up a new chore.

Or whatever would distract you from thinking about writing for Steemit. If you've immersed yourself in Steemit for a while, you'll know that's basically impossible but there are still things around you that are capable of taking your mind off Steemit albeit for a few hours.

  • Then lastly, wait for my next post.

I wish more people would read this before posting :) great reminder, thanks!

I've noticed my best posts are after actively doing something with the children and getting my mind in a positive place. Also, the best posts are the very first thing in the morning when my mind is fresh. I do a little meditation, read a Bible verse or two, and then let the creativity flow. Oh yeah...and wait for your next post:-)

Most of my best posts have come to me while I was doing other things... usually cooking breakfast, which is why I keep paper and pencil with me at all times. Just because I get an idea doesn't mean I go running for the computer... I just take 90 seconds to jot down the highlights of the idea, and then go back to what I was doing.

It's easy to put too much pressure on ourselves... get into a "produce, produce, PRODUCE" routine. I try to remind myself that this is also supposed to be fun and rewarding, not just a dutiful obligation!

Trying to do something and trying to get better at something are not the same thing.

OMG its a puggle in the photo! Quality over quantity. I hear you. I've been thinking about Steemit quite a lot. lol Resteemed this post.

Love the puppy metaphor!!! :)
As a new member, I am trying to keep it real and interesting. I left Facecrack to here to learn and find new friends again. Posting from your heart is where it will always be at and people can see right through it, if your "shitposting" :)

Nice post, I hope everyone works on quality instead of quantity. 1 good post is worth way more than 100's of shit posts.

thanks for sharing

Thank you. I think it would help me to grow. I'm following you and I hope to get some practical advices too

Nice points!
