Today we visited and interviewed Poor Families for our Gift-giving Event on December 17, 2017. Thank you Steemit!

Time to pay it forward for the overwhelming blessings that Steemit provide us before the year ends. Christmas means love, unity, and family.

We will be reaching out to poor Families whom we will be providing presents this coming December 17, 2017. We will conduct this event from 6pm to 9pm.

Three of the @steemph.cebu Core leaders including me , @jassennessaj and @itinerantph visited one of the government units in Cebu, Philippines where we also held the World Food Day event last October.

We are happy that they truly accept and guide us in this project to help the poorest in the area. Maam Eva, who is in charge as the Street Educator shows us the place where we can interview families.

We interviewed 7 families today. They are mostly fire victims who lose their homes and living in the little area, most of the people living there have huge family members , for example, in one family-there are 5 to 8 children, with the little they have, parents have unstable working conditions earning $2 to $4 a day, some have a hard time to let all their kids go to school and most of them are street children, wandering the area, selling anything to earn a living and to feed themselves.

In their homes, they don't have comfort room, so they are using the public vicinity

Powered by steem, @steemph.cebu and for those volunteers, this event will cover all of the expenses from the materials, transportation and packed dinner for everyone who will attend. We are expecting to gather 30-50 steemians.

In today's experience, it's the very first time for me to interview families and visit the place they lived. I feel lucky and blessed that my parents raised me well and that I didn't experience the way they live. However, as I talked to them, I can see hope.

Even though that they have a difficult situation, they have smiles in their faces, they're brave enough to be strong. They have HOPE that there are people in the world who voluntarily extend their hands to the needy. I think the most beautiful gift that you can give to others is your heart. The world would be a better place if we are united as one.

Imagine how Steemit Community can offer! I am over the moon that it provides many opportunities to change the lives of many and attain success especially for those in need.

Upon sharing the project with the officials in the government, we are planning to conduct meet up and discussion with the government sector in the area so we can share how steemit works and how can we help them in this awesome Steemit Community!
