How to destroy a social platformsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemit9 years ago

This will be my last post here on Steemit until this silly downvotin-thing will eventually come to an end!

So, it looks like users like @abit and other bots (that are, basically, whales) are downvoting posts upvoted by other whales. What's the point? Why are you doing this?

Downvoting a post will result in a reduction of the post's reward, that is paid out in Steem Power too. So, basically, by downvoting a post, you are simply creating a bigger inequality in Steem Power distributions.

It's like stealing from poor and honest people, acting like a reverse Robin Hood.

So, why should original content creator spend time and efforts to create original content just to get a downvote everytime someone gives them an upvote?

Congratulations, guys, you are destroying this platform!

Let's use the Flag function to flag copyright infringement and inappropriate content, come on!

Just don't put it on my pizza

I am going to have fun with it. No thought provoking posts for a while.

It's really difficult to have fun with seeing content creator being flagged for just bein upvoted by a whale... Put it simply, it's not their fault, but they are paying the price of it. That's not fair.

Well, I think this experiment will end up proving that the dolphins and minnows don't bother to vote at all!

Pretty sure we're going to see a downward effect on total activity.

I like to vote! I like to vote posts that I really like, from users that I consider are worth an upvote. This stupid experiment is just destroying this social network by creating a further inequality in Steem Power distributions, making whales more powerful and other users insignificant!

@fede93g Very well. I totally agree with you. We hope will end soon ...

What a way to go!

It's not stealing. This experiment is putting power back in the hands of the normal users.

Just give a look at the users that are abusing of the downvote function: they are all bots or things like that, their latest posts are more than 5 months old... Are they really helping the community?

No, it's not! Normal users who are getting downvoted are earning less Steem Power. Do you really want to put power back to normal users? Promote their posts, upvote them, send them some STEEM!

I agree with you that this downvote campaign is a dumb idea but I disagree with you on why. The whales who are downvoting take money away from the users they downvote but the amount of money that all normal users combined receive stays the same.
Lets say there are only 2 posts that both receive the same amount of votes from normal users and lets also say that the reward pool contains only 10 steem. So both users receive 5 steem. Now lets say there is one whale who upvotes Post A. Now post A receives 9.5 steem and Post B receives 0.5 steem. Lets add another whale who downvotes Post A so again both posts receive 5 steem.
So the downvote campaign doesn't effect the community as a whole directly.

And do you think the two reasons you listed will help the Community? Is it good if normal users leave the platform? A whale who sells its Steem makes a profit, do you really think they care about this campaign? Come on, let's find another way to help this community, it totally deserves it!

I said the two reasons I listed are two reasons why the downvoting campaign isn't a good idea but its not killing us.

I know, i know. That's why I'm against this campaign, even after considering the reason (the "why") of it. And that's why I said this is going to destroy this platform.
