Be Careful and Secure Your Steemit Account

Steemit is a great platform to express yourself. You can post anything you want and make money from your post. Since there is money, someone is out there who will try to steal that. Yes, I'm talking about hackers.

We see hacking attempt these days. It's happening over and over. Steemians lost their accounts, reputation and SBD. Usually hackers make comments on your post and somehow make you click the link. When you click the link, it will redirect you to a phishing site that looks like exactly steemit, but it is not steemit.com. Then suddenly you will see you're logged out and you will sign in when you see that.

The moment you sign in, hackers will get your password. Hackers then use your account to send phishing site link to others post. This is how, it will continue. Hackers will send your SBD to their account. Since your account is being used to spread phishing link, people will flag your comment and you will lose your reputation.

So what can you do to prevent your account from being hacked?

Just be careful before clicking any link. After clicking the link, check out the url carefully. If that is a phishing site, url will be different. It looks like steemit, but not steemit.

If you have to log in to your account after clicking the link in spite of being logged in, there is a big sign of being a phishing site.

The most important thing is that always use posting key to sign in steemit. Never use your owner or master key unless you want to change your password.
