GETTING ON STEEMIT AND BUYING CRYPTO - A GUIDE FOR FRIENDS STREAMLINED

I've been getting a lot of requests from friends and family for help and knowledge about how to get started in cryptoverse and steemit.

Here's my attempt at a quick lesson.

Step One:
Create a Coinbase wallet account using my invite link so we both get $10 free bitcoin when you spend your first $100 in coinbase.

You will also want to go to STEEMIT.com and the exchanges to create accounts there. STEEMIT.com is totally free to sign up. Visit Steemit.chat and search the hashtag #help for assistance with account sign up issues if you have any. They are great folks over there.
I prefer the most popular exchanges to start which are Bittrex.com and Poloniex.com Get your accounts verified, secured,
and authorized so that you are all set up once your coins clear.

Step Two:
Associate your bank account with coinbase for initial purchases of Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Litecoin in coinbase. Verify ID in coinbase for credit card purchases or to raise your limits.
Purchases from a checking account will take 7 days to clear for coins to be available and transferable. They will be pending.
Credit cards are instant, but have higher fees. 4% if i'm not mistaken.
You may also set up a USD$ wallet in coinbase and wait for a deposit to clear. This way your cash can be used for instant purchases in coinbase or held on standby for a market dip.

Step Three:
Transfer your desired amount of available coin from coinbase to the desired wallet in the exchange of your choosing. EXAMPLE: Send from Bitcoin wallet in coinbase to Bitcoin wallet in Bittrex. DONT SEND COINS TO NON MATCHING WALLETS OR THEY WILL BE LOST!!!! BTC TO BTC ONLY!
You need to have Bitcoin to buy STEEM on Bittrex. I believe you can buy STEEM with Ethereum on Poloniex as well.

Step Four:
Congratulations, you own STEEM! Welcome to the party.
NOW,
Transfer (withdraw) your STEEM when you are ready to take it off the exchange into your STEEMIT.com account.
Your STEEMIT address is your STEEMIT account name.
EXAMPLE: my send to STEEMIT wallet address is "evoman1" if you would like to donate to me. ;)
You will not need the @ symbol in Bittrex. Just your account name will do. Try a small amount first and verify it transferred into your STEEMIT wallet on your STEEMIT page.

Step Five:
Learn about the rules and governance of STEEMIT. This is important to have success on the platform.

Its kinda old now, but super helpful.

IMPORTANT!
BACK UP ALL KEYS AND PASSWORDS OFF-LINE (LIKE HAND WRITTEN AND STORED AWAY IN MULTIPLE PLACES POSSIBLY)
REMEMBER, PRINTERS ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET AND EASILY HACKED WITH SPYWARE. HAND WRITE YOUR KEYS TO BE SAFE!!!
WHENEVER PRIVATE KEYS ARE SHOWN ON SCREEN YOU SHOULD DISCONNECT OR SHUT OF YOUR WI-FI!!!!!!

NEVER LOSE YOUR KEYS!!!!! NEVER LOSE YOUR COINS!!!!!

Ledger Nano S, KeepKey, and TREZOR are some of the top hardware wallets which you should learn about here from Crypto Tips on youtube.

Use Google Authenticator for the exchanges and coinbase accounts. Make sure you back up your google authenticator private keys as well as your exchanges and coinbase keys.
These are different and I missed this the first time around!
If you lose your phone, you will need the Google Authenticator keys as well as your private master key which you have written down by hand to ever re-login to your account and access your coins. NONE OF THESE COMPANIES WILL HELP YOU HACK YOUR OWN ACCOUNT IF YOU LOSE YOUR KEYS!!!
DONT LOSE YOUR KEYS!!! DONT LOSE YOUR COINS!!!!

Youtube and google are your friends, kinda.
Use them often and research as much as you can.
