Steemit: A Social Media Experiment.

Steemit: A Social Media Experiment.
Ya'll might have noticed that I haven't been on FaceBook too much lately, not near as much as I have been in the past. There are several reasons for this.
As you all know FaceBook is getting more and more dictatorial. I have some facebookfriends who have laboriously built up a following of several THOUSAND with the expectations of using it for business purposes. In fact FaceBook promised as much early on. Then...after all that work FaceBook says 'pay me' or they throttle back and you only reach ten percent of your following. Facebook has indeed 'throttled back' such groups as The Tenth AmendmentCenter . On FaceBook they are only reaching about ten percent or less of those who originally followed them. Of course FaceBook is using all that information for it's own purposes. If your not paying for a product you ARE the product, on FaceBook and many of the other social media.
Advertising don't you know?
FaceBook is definitely Liberal and LeftLeaning. If you are not, you suffer, advertising or no, conservatives are not really wanted there.
And that's all right. ZukieBabie built it. It belongs to him (and the shareholders)and he can do with it as he pleases. I don't know about ya'll though. I'm getting pretty damn tired of being treated like a red headed step child.
So...as it happens , I've discovered a thing, an alternative to FaceBook. Think of it as the illigetimate love child of FaceBook and Reddit on the BlockChain.
It's called Steemit.
In a lot of ways it's like FaceBook, and Reddit, used to be in the early days. There are not very many active users right now. (it's still in BETA) I've found that it is a MUCH more diverse group than FaceBoook even so. I suspect that FaceBook (can't prove it, see no need too, just a feeling) keeps the herd separated into their own tiny little paddocks. Easier to control perhaps?
Not Steemit. I've carried on conversations with people from every continent. Want to know what it's really like in SAfrica, Venezula, RedChina, Russia, England, Serbia, ...etc..etc...etc...? I've met a guy (or gal) from there and many more..
Steemit is open to everyone. It's a lot of fun. FUN. Key word FUN. Remember that it's important.Think of it as fun. Ignore the man in the van selling candy. Ignore the man behind the curtain promising lots of money. There's a monetary aspect to it, true. That will come with time, but Ignore that part for now. Just have fun. (no...it does NOT cost anything to join. It's free.)
Like everywhere else, there are Makers, Fakers and Takers. It doesn't take very long to sort them out.
It's an experiment in FreeMarket Economics, something like an ecosystem. It can be as complex as you want it to be or simple, your choice.
Think FaceBook when it was young. Steemit is not so easy to use, it takes time to learn the basics, BUT.... If you're tired of the way FaceBook is now...come join the fun on Steemit.
Two more things.
- You can make real money. I mean REAL money as in tens of thousands of dollars a week. It's happened before and we all devoutly hope that it will happen again. It has to do with...reasons..that I don't fully understand. Making money takes a while although there are a number of people world wide who make a living off of Steemit. Not me, I wish, I'm making beer money, if that, but I'm getting better. Don't let the expectation of making money t be the deciding factor for joining. Join to learn about 'stuff', about people, about the world and have fun.
- No ads.

If the service is free; the product is me.
Man, ain't that the truth. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
Pathetic that people aren't allowed to have opinions different from yours...Good riddance to bad rubbish!
I started becoming less active on fb and now they are showing me ads trying to get me to become more active, they are actually pitching the service. I didn't think I'd live the day to see that, they may be in bigger trouble than we know. If fb offered me some of the money they spent advertising to me I might consider posting more there :p
For a very long time I've use an app on FaceBook called Social Fixer . It allows me to view and interact with FaceBook as I see fit. One BIG thing it does is allow me to eliminate all the damn popups. ( I don't really care if some had to go potty, or feed the cat. TMI for crying out loud)
It worked for a while. Then two things happened...dunno which is cause and which is effect. I heard that FB was hasseling the software author unmercifully...even threatening lawsuits.
Social Fixer changed. It was improved so much that it's not as useful as it once was.
He fixed what wasn't broke until it was.
Now I don't have the FaceBook filter that I once had.
So I jumped ship when I saw the opportunity.
I'll do the same thing on Steemit that I did on facebook, with OUT all the hassel.
