This is true, there's no point in having a business if it doesn't make a profit. Some business can be run without employees, some businesses require employees to do whatever the business does. Those jobs are not a bonus, they are how the product gets manufactured. Without people running the machines that make the parts, and people to assemble those parts, the product would not exist. Employees are a cost of doing business.
It really doesn't matter who the people are that do the jobs, as long as they can be taught to do the job. After having worked for 40 years as an employee, I can say with some confidence that employees are considered a wear item to the company. The company uses them up and throws them out. Replacements are easy to get, so they only pay the bare minumim that it takes to retain someone in that work field.

under the present day tax structure it would be stupid to do other wise wouldn't it? When businesses are stupid..they go OUT of business.

True, but sometimes they go out of business because they can't sell enough of what they make to turn a profit because not enough people have the extra money to spend that they used to have.
