Get The Train With Me To Bath Spa: Visit The Beautiful Roman Built City With Me (pictures)
Hello Steemit Friends
Today I got the train to visit Bath Spa, which is a lovely Roman city in Somerset, England.
Bath got its name after the city's Roman-built baths, which were built around AD 60. It quickly become a popular spa town, and now it attracts about 4 million visitors per year.
Have a walk with me and let me show you around Bath.
The Royal Crescent
This is one of the most prestigious address is Bath. It was built between 1767 and 1774 in a Georgian style. There are terraced 30 houses included in the Cresent, some of them are owned by Hollywood stars.
The Circus
The Circus was inspired by the roman game theater, the Colosseum. There is a little park in the middle with a few huge, old oak trees.
Bath Abbey
The Abbey was founded in the 7th century, then re-built in the 10th, 12th and 16th centuries. It has amazing features on the building, very detailed. There is an entrance fee, which is currently £4 for adults.
There is this funny skeleton, riding a bike on the square next to the abbey.
Also, there are a lot of musicians and artists on the street, which creates a nice atmosphere in the city with the live music.
Pulteney Bridge
Pulteney Bridge crosses the River Avon and it was completed by 1774. There is a lovely tea room inside, with an amazing view to the water weir.
Jane Austin
Jane Austin, the famous writer used to live in Bath, which inspired her with her writing. There is a permanent exhibition in the Jane Austin Centre, which tells her story.
For her 200th anniversary, the city made a flower arrangement in Pulteney Park.
Sally Lunn bun
This small place is the oldest shop in Bath. It was established around 1482. You can have a nice bun with a cup of tea here. There is a museum on the ground floor as well.
I hope you enjoyed this post. I really appreciate your comments and up-votes.
