tearing down the barriers of usability :: improved editor, media uploads, wordpress-publish-button

in #steemit8 years ago

with increasing frequency i´m reading posts about what need to be done to get more blogger or other "high quality" writers/creators on steemit. i don´t think it´s that difficult.

yes, there are a lot sceptical people - including myself before i wrote my first post - but all of them are interested in earning money. i talked to two friends of mine to convince them of the additional income they could have by publishing their stuff on steemit. one is a foodblogger, the other one a photographer. they are doing great work, if you like to just have a look at it, but never mind:

photography: http://sascha-niethammer.com/
food: http://iss-wie-es-is.de/

together we had a look at steemit. i talked about author-rewards, the curation-system, the meaning of steem power about how to transfer money and both of them were obviously exited.

they asked me:

but why do i receive this money? - i explained as good as i can.
and where does the money come from? - i explained as good as i can.
are you sure this system will work out? - i uttered my guess

honestly

i don´t really know how steemit or this whole crypto thing is working, but me, i don´t mind! my last shot to convince people of the advantages of steemit usually is:

do you know how goolge is working? no? but you are using it all the time, don´t you?

they agreed, so we went a step forward and i showed them how to submit a story.

wait, wait... this is the editor? and where do i upload my pictures? how can i create a headline? at this point their interest disappeared. looks difficult!

what i´m trying to say is:

sure, we need a better education for people that don´t know anything about this crypto stuff

  • where does the money come from?
  • why do i get money for creating content?
  • without beeing paid by a company for writing about their cool new product?

yes, we need some guides for using markdown, because the regular user don´t know it

  • this ** is bold
  • this * italic
  • three of them make a -
  • use # for headlines
  • ! is for pictures

but all these guidelines and informations

will never ever truely convince people of using steemit, if we don´t tear down the barriers of usability. as mentioned i don´t know much about crypto. maybe this will be a suprise for all of you (irony), but i don´t know anything about markdown as well. everytime i´m creating a post it´s hard work for me to do this. i agree that creating great content should be hard work, but publishin should be as easy as possible.

i don´t want to upload pictures on a plattform and than copy a link into an editor where it needs to be tagged. i don´t want to learn a language that i will never ever use again in my life, because i´m not a developer or something like that. what i want is a handy user interface to share my interest, my work or thoughts. and if i were a blogger i´d like to have a publish on steemit- in the cms i´m working with everyday.

@dantheman @ned and at all the other people that created this excellent plattform, currancy and all the other stuff i can´t even imagine, please don´t get me wrong. i´m truely excited about steemit, the whole idea and all your energy and workload.

i don´t have any intersting hobbies, i don´t do art, photographay or anything else that really should be published here - i´m not even a good writer - but i want to take part and the only thing i can do is convincing people of using steemit, but there for i need your help.

THX everybody for reading

and best wishes from the mainstream @essra

I'm stealing your line - You don't know how Google works, but you still use it every day, don't you? There are parts of Steemit I can explain well, and parts I barely understand, but that's kind of what it's like on here anyway... an opportunity to learn more with every click.
