No, I was trying to promote it from the get go, but I simply don't have the button that would allow me to do so, neither can other people see a button there either. So, I'm stuck not being able to promote article for which I spend 5 days and over writing! Grrrrrr... Any idea who or what i can do to solve this?

Must be a bug. I'd post it in the steemit.chat #dev or #witness channel and see if they're familiar with that bug.
