I think they usually use the same terms used in physics, but I am a German native speaker. This kind of using abbreviations is not consistent, I don't know whether there is something more systematic.
1'000 => kilo => k
1'000'000 => mega/million => m
1'000'000'000 => giga/billion => b
1'000'000'000'000 => tera/trillion => t
1'000'000'000'000'000 => peta/quadrillion => q
In American English we say "K" for thousand. So 25,000 = 25k
