A recent study in Britain has shown a division over the publication of children's photos on social media.

According to the UK Communications Office (OFCOM), more than half of the study respondents said they avoided over-publishing their children's images through communication.

The monitoring body pointed out that the most prominent reasons cited for not publishing children's pictures are the desire to protect the privacy of children under the age of 18.

Twenty percent of the participants said they published pictures of their children at least once a month.

The survey included 1,000 people surveyed online in April.

Highlights of the study:

56 percent of the participants do not publish pictures of their children on the media sites.

70 percent of them think it is unacceptable to publish a person's picture without his consent.

36% affirm that personal photos should be accessible to friends and followers.

Fifty percent believe it is difficult to scan images from the Internet after they are posted on a Web site.

The issue of publishing family photos and videos has become a contentious issue.

"There is a real divide between parents as to whether it is appropriate to publish their children's pictures online," said Lindsey Fosel, an official at OFCOM.

"The good thing is that 80 percent of those who publish their children 's photos are restricted to restricting access to these images, such as family and friends, for example.

The study also found that 87 percent of those who refrain from publishing their children's pictures said they were keen on the privacy of their children, while 38 percent said their children might not want to publish their pictures.

But 52 percent of parents who publish their children's pictures online said their children seemed happy to publish photos, and 15 percent were concerned about how their children would be able to post their photos when they grow up.

Is virtual space a safe domain?

Most of the respondents agreed that they tend to accept the terms of use of social media and messages sent by sites without reading them, and half of them acknowledged that it is not always easy to scan images from the network after uploading.

In light of these findings, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in Britain has urged that children's privacy issues be taken into account and protected.

"Each time a picture or video of a child is loaded, a digital fingerprint is created for the child, accompanied by a baby. So it is very important to ask permission of the child before publishing any image or video clip of him. "

"For young children, think about whether publishing their pictures will make them happy or embarrassed. If you're not sure of the results, it's best not to publish."

Culture of "Salafi"

The study also examined the extent of people's interest in their images on the social networking sites, and reached the following results:

Sixty-one per cent of Salafi users said they accurately reflected their truth.

44 percent said they were editing photos before they were published.

27 percent said the images reflected their lives more pleasantly than they actually did.

29 percent said they spend a minute or two editing their photos before they are published.

Seventeen percent said they spend more than two minutes editing their photos.

The study shows that the respondents take six pictures of themselves before choosing the picture they will publish.
