I solemnly promise not to announce to you how many followers I have.
Gaining a large list of followers is a great accomplishment. We all know It takes work and creativity to attract readers one at a time. I’ll admit I watch my blog for new followers and get a little jolt of positivity when I surpass some noteworthy number. I love my followers, hope to gain many more, and I plan to follow many more of you.
However, the many posts joyfully announcing follower accomplishments are filling up my feed. Soon Steemit is going to explode with new users, hopefully millions of new users. If we each post an announcement for every hundred followers we achieve, the crowd of this type of post will explode, making other content we are looking for harder to find.
Also, there are better topics to post about. This type of post is not why your followers jumped on your bandwagon in the first place. They followed you because you posted something beautiful, intelligent, interesting, funny, enlightening, or helpful. Give us all more of that and more followers will come.

I’m not going to give you a hard time if you post a special accomplishment, and I will still follow you, but I pledge that I will never announce to you how many followers I have.
Maybe some user should do one post each day asking “Who Accomplished 100 Followers Today?” and then anyone who reached the goal or is close can celebrate and comment on that post (by the way anyone who runs with that idea should give me a little credit and throw a some steem my way if it works).
I have to agree, those posts are popular but a little monotonous. Then again I guess people get such a kick of of adding new friends that they feel a need to celebrate. I keep my celebration private and make a date with Miss Palmer instead.

I wouldn't mind people celebrating there followers if they were getting that many upvotes, I an nearly at 1000 but only get around 50 upvotes on each post, not something to shout about is it :)
Thanks Karen. I agree. These posts fill up the feeds and nobody is reading them. I think I have noticed them increasing as the number of new accounts keeps growing.
They are I have seen a few too, I wouldn't mind so much if members were getting the upvotes too, its easy to click the follow button but you actually do it is hard work
I agree they are silly, I posted one at 42 followers in ode to Douglas Adams, and at 203 I read my favorite poem to my followers. To date, 203 has 15 views, 8 votes, and I have no idea of those 15 how many even pressed play. I also unfortunately posted the wrong link originally, diverting people to a former post rather than the video. I think I'm going to start paring down my following list so I don't miss out on supporting the people who are supporting me. I agree though, unless it is celebrated in a meaningful way. Is it truly a milestone, or just an excuse to show us Gerard Butlers abs? Great commentary, I agree.
