The steemit in Nigeria initiative, born out of a need to decentralize Africa, the first of its kind in Africa on the blockchain on a large scale, has not only changed the face of the blockchain, it has empowered other similar projects to follow.
April 2017 will forever remain an amazing year on the blockchain for Africa, why? Because while others thought it impossible or never even thought of it at all, without support, growing Africa was on the mind of a few. It was not about the money or fame, it was about contributing our own quota to the beloved steem blockchain.

A change in Africa changes the blockchain

So many changes throughout history were brought about by blood and violence, but the greatest were brought through the power of the human mind conceived out of love.
A stitch in time saves nine goes the saying. When we look around the blockchain, we see littered and abandoned projects, half baked, profit oriented projects with a ticket to fame and cheap momentary glory, we stop to ask if it is all about the money, what next?

The world is embracing the blockchain technology, why should Africa be any different? Abuja being chosen as the venue for the second edition of the program was not by accident. I always said Africa will embrace the blockchain and it has always been clearly stated in all the posts I made from last year starting from May last year till this point.

Africa is truly now embracing the blockchain and courtesy of the spark (SIN initiative) which prompted flames all around. It is not a competition and if it is, the we are the first and still remain the best. While others have folded up or changed gears, we still believe in the “steemy future for everyone.”
With the expected launch of SMT’s by Q3 of this year, one can only anticipate and salivate as to how much change to expect. All hail steem! In a world where skeptics thought rewarding content and content providers was impossible, steem showed it was possible.

In a world where skeptics thought only the corporations should get the profit, steem fixed it. Now it has been over two years and the engine is still firing hot. The Steemit In Nigeria team won’t back down, we will fire our engines hotter than ever and we will bring out even bigger guns. With a fierce rival, we say bring it on and we will always prove why steem is a pioneer and a champion.

It is not about giving random figures and statistics of poor people, Africans might not all be financially buoyant, but we are buoyant in talents and unique traits which gives us the spirit of excellence. Steemit In Nigeria won’t stop at ordinary, we will make it extraordinary.

What have we been up to?

This year, we are more focused on three major things:

• Community building
• Investment/Investors
• Repopulation
  The best thing ever to happen to steem(it) was the fact that a community of unique people were discovered. After taking analysis of what is needed, it can be concluded that with these three major things in place, the sky is simply our starting point.

For the greater good, we have decided to work some of the best Nigerian sub-communities who will ensure the greater interest of Nigerians are well represented both now and always as the first step towards community building with other subsequent plans to follow later.

Community building is integral and as such must always be considered as a pivot for steemit. The communities at hand include:

- Genesisproject

- Steemnaira

- Africaunchained

- Naija pidgin

- Euronation

- Steembees

- Abuja steem

- The bigwaves general community

Together we will build a grand and better Nigeria for everyone. We have been communicating and planning and we shall reach that goal.

What do we need?

I won’t lie, we first of all need your cooperation and goodwill gesture. Secondly, we are going to need steem/sbd to the tune of about 3,000 sbd (roughly $9,000) to make this happen.
We know it is going to happen, help us make it happen. Now Nigeria is adopting the blockchain, we can make it a steemy voice. I have been pushing for a meeting with some high ranking officials to make that happen, I believe in steem, you should too. Things are not perfect now, but together we can make the future we want happen.
