Steemit turning into twitter?
Its more relevant than you think. And its definitely a phenomenon. Twitter has 3 major issues that have turned it into a basically worthless platform.
1. follow for follow
follow for follow. It is well known on twitter that you are supposed to follow everyone that follows you. This creates a major issue. For example, back when I used twitter, I had built up almost 3000 followers, and yet I got ZERO engagement. Since everyone is following 500+ people, you can't even read everyone's feeds. It doesn't matter if you have 100,000 followers but get ZERO engagement.
2. They are all creators not readers
They are all creators, not readers. This problem is even worse on steemit. EVERYONE is creating and only of few of us are reading. This means that there is so much content that never even gets seen. So do everyone a favor and maintain a 1:2 ratio. That means every time you create a post, read two others. That is how we can support the system and help the minnows.
3. Low-quality posts
Now, I've been guilty of this myself, but posting a video/meme without some original content to back it up is just spam. And if you must spam, you should try to maintain the 1:2 ratio at least.

never used twitter but I can see the follow for follow could be a problem.
