@edolo, I personally think there is something you are both missing. I don't even really think the social media aspect is the best use of steem, its just what came first.

I know that a bunch of bloggers get their bunches all wadded up about utopian devs taking away their blogging rewards, but utopian.io is a taste of the future, where steem is used to reward all types of actions, not just content creation.

I imagine a future use of steem where content creation is a part (maybe even a small part) of a much vaster and more valuable steem pool.
