What I learned from posting on Steemit = More text, less pictures + post reach problem

Hello dear Steemians,

missed you so much cause I actually post here but still feel a bit passive. I wanted to come back but it feels frustrating to think what to post about. For this problem, I came up with interesting answers which I would like to share with you. But before let's talk about the purpose of posting. It actually has the meaning but it is awarded by the author. So, author decides what kind of value this post will have.

the purpose of posting

Posting on Steemit or anywhere else means that we have some idea about something which we would like to share with community. This is the main purpose to provide valuable content because otherwise people won't like it. We have to think as reader does. Reader likes to consume content and get some desired information.

What is great about posting, there are no barriers about topic. It's all up to you and the mood you feel or the thoughts are going in your mind might help to choose the topic. Once you choose the topic, you are able to start writing anything comes in your head and then you are able to edit and refine your post while actually posting (you can do it later as well).

why text is more important than pictures

Unless it is #photography topic, there are almost no need to use pictures in your post and here is why. Of course it might help the reader to visualize the information but having accent on pictures won't help because pictures represent certain action or state it was captured and nothing more. Well, I am not against the pictures but I mean that text adds the post continues information about the topic which provides the value to the reader.

This is actually what I learned from posting on Steemit. Once I chose to make more text enriched post, I got better feedback than, I just posted pictures mainly (even, great images). We know that reading has so many benefits and so does our brains. It can actually develop and go somewhere where the words go. So, that's why successful people love reading cause it trains the brain. Post with only text might not look visually fantastic but has so much to offer to its consumers.

post reach problem

There are so many great contents created on Steemit but not all of them get same rewards. This is because some people are able to reach their audience better than the others. There are several ways that post gets noticed by others and these are: New category, Followers' feed, Tags, by searching, resteeming and there might be other options as well.

The first one which is new category is when someone posts, it instantly appears in new posts. It has a problem for now because there are lots of contents created now and your post easily gets lost from upper ones. Some months ago, you could see your post there for few minutes but get noticed in new category looks difficult. So, actually making a bet for posting very often doesn't make sense in that terms. Quality should be considered as main focus.

The second thing which is followers' feed is a good way to reach more audience because people who follow you, they might are interested what you can offer to them in the future. That's why they may often check their feed and your post has higher chance to get noticed in that point. The problem here can be the difficulty to have more followers and also the ones who are active. There are some bots as well who follow you and they might not be considered as real ones.

Correct tags on your post allow Steemians to find your post with their interests. So it is important to include right tags, up to 5 for the post. You can see here which tags are more popular and you can choose appropriates ones from here: https://steemit.com/tags

Steemit has a search function where users can look for posts with the words they search and if it matches the words in your post, it will appear in their search. So more specific you are with your post and more words you write, there are more chance to get noticed.

Once someone sees your post he will be able to resteem if he feels this post is worthy to be seen by more. He has to get some kind of value from the post and so again with upper things to consider how to be reached, you have to impress your readers in order to get your post noticed by greater audiences.
