What is a blog? What kind of content should a blog contain?

I'm asking this question because I notice that there a plenty of serial posters out there. Last night after spending quite some time on Steemit, I went to Youtube and noticed that 2 of the videos that had previously popped up on Steemit were on the front trending page of Youtube. It seems like there should be more to a blog than just a link to what's trending on Youtube. If you are going to link to a video, at least put SOME work into it. Find something unique and give an explanation about why we should watch.
I agree 100%. With all of the content available on the web, I feel that we need to be different here and post useful, original, content.
For the serial posters, it's obvious that they're simply trying to make money and not add value to the community. As such, I typically don't give them much attention. Hopefully if enough people do the same, they will slowly disappear or learn to provide valuable content.
How the community grows will depend on what the community deems interesting as a whole and promotes (with follows/resteems/upvotes/etc).
