THE GAME: A continuation of discussion on idea started by @andrachy and @churdtzu

in #steemit8 years ago

I've watched the video, looked at the diagrams. I may have an idea. It'd be pretty easy to test and see if it works, as it doesn't need ANYTHING that we don't already have. No new infrastructure required.

It all starts with a post

This post describes a setting and an environment and possibly some actions that are going on in this environment. This blog post could have formatting, images, videos, etc to set whatever is being conveyed.

It is up voted

Players in the game (which can be anyone in a drop in and out fashion) up vote the topic to show they are engaged in the game.

Your move

Each player inserts a character of their design into this setting and posts a comment (fully formatted with images or words, etc) describing what their character is doing in that scene.

Every player posts such a post.

If you wish to interact with each others characters in the scene you can do so using replies. Your post should not indicate what another character does.

For example if you say "@andrachy performs a one inch punch @dwinblood" it would stop there and give @dwinblood a chance to respond. You should not say what happens to @dwinblood.

Together we essentially build a big narrative and story. You will find that sometimes your character benefits the story more by failing... so I might say "@dwinblood crumples to the ground from the devastating effects of the one inch punch, internal hemorrhaging now his only concern."

Votes

People up vote the ROOT comments they like.

After the payout period

After the payout period the comments are looked at. The person with the highest number of votes on their comments is the person to post the next blog entry for that days game setting. The change to how the story progresses.

In the event of a tie for most votes we could come up with a tie breaking mechanism. Perhaps count the replies, votes to replies, etc.

Reward

The person posting the setting is obviously going to receive a reward because the players that jump into the game will have up voted the setting post. This means they'll be getting SBD and Steem Power.

It also encourages people to write their characters really well so they can have a chance at being the host for the primary game post the next day.

Everyone else will benefit as well because, their comments will be getting up voted.

Devil's Advocate / Murphy's Law

What if the person that wins does not post a blog entry? We'll need a way to wait a certain amount of time for them to post, and then it'd be handed over to the runner up.

That's my initial brainstorm inspired by the discussions of @andrarchy and @churdtzu.

This could be done NOW with no special requirements. It could be done using steemit as is.

My update to this... I'd recommend people use character names rather than their steemit handle. That way they can kill off characters, and introduce new characters and still be part of the game.

Basically a huge crowd sourced story with a lot of different actors, or perhaps only a few if not many players.

You could also have multiple games like this you'd just need to agree to some designation in the title of the blog post so that the different stories could be differentiated from.

Very interesting concept! I'll go read the other post now. Sounds like fun.

We've been posting about it in a chat, and they told me to run with an alpha experiment of it... I just redid the rules as another post... I'll actually create the first entry for the game in a few minutes.
