Why I Think Steemit Has The Potential To Be The #1 Social Media Platform

Today is my first day as a member of Steemit. While I've only had a few hours to check it out, so far it has been an amazing experience. I can already see the extreme potential the platform has and being an avid social media user of other platforms - I am seriously impressed!

In this post I want to share my opinion on why I think Steemit it is set to become one of the top social media platforms in the world. My opinions are based from using the platform, reading the white paper, posting content and interacting with the community.

Game -Changing Platform

The first thing that struck me was the sign-up process. The system is very secure and I love that each account needs approval before joining the community. A lot of social media networks are loaded with fake accounts who only serve the purpose to increase the social platform's community instead of providing value. While I had to wait(less than 24 hours) to get approved, the process quite smooth and I was ready to write my first post.

Steemit provides you with a very good introduction guide on how to use the platform, which made the joining process much easier. The platform itself is quite easy to use and the interface is clean. Platforms such as Facebook, have too much going on in the homepage, Steemit let's you focus on the most important part of a social media website: The Community & Content!

Content-Driven

Steemit puts a lot of focus on the content, something which I absolutely love! The most popular social media sites are cluttered with irrelevant content, troll posts and the like. Steemit rewards people who are willing to provide great content to it's community. In an era where visual content is king, this is one of the platform's strongest assets.

This allows your content to be "judged" by the community. Post irrelevant content, and your posts make a few cents at best; however, if you post amazing content, you can quickly earn some good money. By earning money for your posts, you are incentivized to post helpful content to the community.

The community is king on this platform and they choose who gets to the top by up voting you! Again, the fact that this platform gives so much power to it's users is unheard of! Like with cryptocurrencies, people are more drawn to platforms where they can have control! Social Networks often are full of rules, community guidelines, etc; which is the opposite of what a social network look like.

What about the money? You make ask. Sure, the fact that you can earn a significant amount just by posting it's really awesome. However, that should never be the primary purpose of Steemit! By having more users join, using the platform and establishing a community should be the number 1 focus.

If the platform becomes more high-quality content driven, then everyone benefits! The STEEM cryptocurrency goes up in value, the Steemit platform becomes more popular and the community earns money.
