Hey Twitter - Come join us on Steemit!

Hi Twitter. Here's how (and why) to use Steemit in conjunction with your Twitter account. Actually, this post is an example of it. These days, I spend way more of my social-media time on Steemit than on Twitter (Facebook comes in a very poor third).

But if Twitter is your thing, here are some reasons why you should back it up with a Steemit account:

• Steemit is a really simple and easy to use blog site - any ideas you want to explore, or arguments you want to prosecute, which are necessarily more complex than that expressible in a single (or string of) tweets can be captured here;
• posts can be seamlessly tweeted to your Twitter followers - just like any other blog site it's a single click away;
• because Steemit is still in its early stages (a good time to get involved), you will probably be able to use the same account name as your Twitter account;
• as you grow a Steemit following, your followers can - and will - reward your quality posts with Steem and Steem-Based-Dollars (SBDs);
• Steem and SBDs are convertible to any currency you want via cryptocurrency exchanges; but
• if you "power-up" your rewards on steemit, you can start to build your account. The more powered up Steem you have, the higher the rewards you can give in support of the Steemit posts and authors you like.

Steemit has a great community too - less trolling. Much less trolling than other social media sites. Because in the same way that posts can be voted up and rewarded, they can be voted down too (taking away rewards). This doesn't happen very often, though, and there is a tendency instead to simply not engage with those posts you disagree with. And while this may perhaps seem less honest, or authentic, than Twitter, it certainly leads to a happier experience.
