Please resteem to help us bring water to a neighborhood in Venezuela! [MISSION: AGUA-POSSIBLE]

This is week 3 of Mission Agua-possible! Our plan is to gather Steem - equal to 1300 USD - for a steel pump. This will instantly provide years of clean drinking water for several families and a small farm in crisis-stricken Venezuela!

The background

You may have noticed the recent influx of Venezuelans onto Steemit. I met a few of them and started to hear their stories - and ask questions. I discovered the dark truth about the economic and political situation there. Things have been rough for years, but recently the government devalued the currency overnight, and began new price-fixing schemes that have left shops empty, people hungry, and the economy at a standstill. Theft, violence, and corruption escalate as society breaks down. Millions are fleeing on foot - if they can escape. The harsh government is using propaganda and violence against the people, attempting to control every aspect of life, and blaming the people for every problem. Most government services, including running water, work only in selected upscale areas - or not at all.

In the midst of all this, I met Edgar (@edgargonzalez), a Venezuelan man about my age. He's a father of young children, and a professional whose job no longer exists, because of the crisis. He feeds his family by fishing, foraging for fruits, and growing cassava on his late-father's plantation. Shortly after I met Edgar, a power outage caused a failure of the pump used to bring water up to the farm. A repairman confirmed the pump is beyond fixing this time. Edgar had been using this pump to water his plants, and to provide drinking water to his children and other families in the neighborhood.

Without government water services, and now without water from his well, Edgar and a few other families are in a dire situation. When I heard about this, through Steemit, I realized that Steemit could also be the SOLUTION!

That's when I stepped forward with Mission Agua-possible! Once we gather 1300 USD worth of Steem, I'll transfer it to Edgar, to be converted to cash to buy the pump!

Here's Edgar a few days ago working on his land. Despite loss of many plants to lack of water, and theft by hungry criminals, he was able to harvest some cassava, banana, avocaco, and other fruit.

Every item is important and nothing will be wasted by his family. Getting water flowing on the farm as soon as possible is vital. Water is life!

Slowdown

Perhaps because of HardFork20, there were almost no upvotes on the Week 2 post. After bringing in 32 Steem in Week 1, we didn't even manage a single Steem this week!

Es posible que haya notado la reciente afluencia de venezolanos en Steemit. Conocí a algunos de ellos y comencé a escuchar sus historias-y hacer preguntas. Descubrí la oscura verdad sobre la situación económica y política allí. Las cosas han sido duras durante años, pero recientemente el gobierno devaluado la moneda de la noche a la mañana, y comenzó nuevos planes de fijación de precios que han dejado las tiendas vacías, las personas hambrientas y la economía paralizada. El robo, la violencia y la corrupción aumentan a medida que la sociedad se descompone. Millones huyen a pie, si pueden escapar. El gobierno áspero está usando propaganda y la violencia contra la gente, intentando controlar cada aspecto de la vida, y culpando a la gente para cada problema. La mayoría de los servicios del gobierno, incluyendo el agua corriente, trabajan solamente en áreas selectas seleccionadas - o no en todos.

En medio de todo esto, conocí a Edgar (@edgargonzalez), un hombre venezolano de mi edad. Es un padre de niños pequeños, y un profesional cuyo trabajo ya no existe, debido a la crisis. Alimenta a su familia por la pesca, el forrajeo de frutas, y el cultivo de yuca en la plantación de su padre tardío. Poco después de conocer a Edgar, un apagón causó un fallo de la bomba utilizada para llevar agua a la granja. Un reparador confirmó que la bomba está más allá de arreglar esta vez. Edgar había estado usando esta bomba para regar sus plantas, y para proveer agua potable a sus niños y otras familias en el vecindario.

Sin los servicios públicos de agua, y ahora sin agua de su pozo, Edgar y algunas otras familias están en una situación calamitosa. Cuando me enteré de esto, a través de Steemit, me di cuenta de que Steemit también podría ser la solución!

Fue entonces cuando me acerqué a Mission Agua-posible! ¡Una vez que recojamos 1300 USD de Steem, lo transferiré a Edgar, para ser convertido a efectivo para comprar la bomba!

Aquí está Edgar hace unos días trabajando en su tierra. A pesar de la pérdida de muchas plantas a falta de agua, y el robo por los delincuentes hambrientos, fue capaz de cosechar algo de yuca, plátano, avocaco, y otras frutas.
