RUNCOIN Update: Strava Integration, Remote Posting Tests
As you probably noticed, I made some progress with @runcoin, the experimental token supporting a healthy lifestyle.
Here's a list of updates:
- Strava integrations status: API calls returning basic activity data for an athelete, OAuth under tests
- remote posting: correctly integrating with Steemit authentication keys and posting: race name, race distance, race moving time and a custom note
- although the footer of the postings says "Runcoin is a smart media token", it's obviously not yet launched, as SMTs are not yet available, but when they are, the whole app will benefit from them.
Next steps:
- it will probably start as a web app, where one can authorize the Runcoin app with his Strava accounts and will be able to pull and post the last race
- testing Strava OAuth more thoroughly
- brushing up Steemit integrations and testing steemconnect v2 flow (as it is now you have to input your private posting key, which is not broadcasted in any way, it never leaves your browser).
For more updates, follow @runcoin, where I'm going to write during the next few weeks more details about the white paper and the overall progress.

This is great to hear, congrats.
Fellow programer's curiosity - what tools / languages / framworks are you using?TNX!
JavaScript clients for API integrations and for the UI I didn't decide yet, but I'm almost sure it will be a combination of react / react-native for Web / Mobile. There might be some server-side programming in PHP, but it depends on which implementation I choose (didn't decide for that either).
Thanks for your answer. Will you go with the official javascript API?
Not to suggest anything and only to give some info back :) With our latest project in the office where I work we have chosen dot.net core with Angular 4 as a frontend. I am yet to learn both. I hope that I'll have some time to learn the code since my primary role with this project is paperwork.
Yes, will use steemjs and direct calls to Strava endpoints from within pure JavaScript (there is a node package for Strava, but din't test it yet). Frontend is react / react-native, which I got to know better since my latest project at work involved rewriting an Objective C / Java mobile app into react-native. Still a few weeks away until I reach UI state, though :)
so is run coin like the failed bitwalking project(http://www.bitwalking.com/)?
I don't know anything about bitwalking, will check them out.
The token is already issued as a UIA on the bitshares blockchain and there have been 10 distribution rounds. Following the announcements of SMT I decided to pivot from Bitshares and use Steem. New info should be posted soon on @runcoin and http://runcoin.space about the status of the project. It's an experimental token I'm doing first and foremost for my own pleasure, I'm a runner :)
Bitwalking was a app that would pay in its own cryptocurrency by you walking. It had a good app but failed in making the crypto/exchanges. The app was planning on adding ads which would be put into a buyback program and numerous other ideas
Thanks.
I wonder can runcoin be like an improved version of Bitwalking? Bitwalking was a real hyped crypto. If you can make an app that pays tracking you running and put ads into the app(which would be put into a buyback program) and others such as making merchant expect as payments and other stuff. It would get free PR
I'm going a different route, I guess. Let's see how it unfolds. :)
Well would love the read how it works. Hope you release the the white paper really soon
Happy to read about it.
As usual, all my support for the project!
Feel free to ask me for whatever you would need...
Will do, as development advances. Thank you for wanting to be a part of this :)
hahaha, everything related with running is a priority for me :-)
btw, I am writting a post in #runcoin in order to give you some ideas...
Have a look please and tell me what you think:

That is quite innovative....... But I thought it'd be Fitnesscoin, because that seems to be the only name that encompasses everything.
I don't know much about fitness, only bits and pieces about running :)
Today was a great day for me, I usually run 5-6 km whenever I run (I'm more into strength training). For this New Year, I decided that I would try to do a bit more by running 12 km. I've never done more than a 10k at one go, so I thought it might have been a bit of a challenge for me. Surprisingly, I managed to do about 20 kilometers with a few breathers in between. It was an awesome way to start the new year. I plan on doing relatively longer runs on the 1st day of every year from now on!
Huge congrats on your first half-marathon! Well done! Especially in the first day of the year, very powerful!
Sounds interesting! Any plans to support more platforms than Strava, like Runkeeper for example?
Yes, Strava will be a minimum viable product, once I see interest for other Trusted Third Party validators, I will integrate them.
Promising!
I had no idea you were the one that developed this Dragos. I saw it once before in a post but I guess I never saw you post about it till now. I'm definitely interested in where it goes as getting crypto for runs would certainly motivate me!
No where did he say that he is behind it, or i missed something?
He also says it on the @runcoin account. Specifically on this post.

Great seeing a Romanian invested technically in the blockchain technology! Success with your project, I will keep an eye on it and follow its progress.

Thanks for your support! :)
Just a few moments ago I wrote that I expect you will do a post explaining runcoin's development so far. Looks like I'm getting the hang of how you do things :)
Regarding runcoin, as far as I understand, posting runs via runcoin is not yet available to the "public". For that to happen we have to wait for the app. If that's the case consider my application for beta testing when the app comes out :)
duly noted :)
@runcoin sounds very intersting project ......followed ...
