Enhanced Google Sheets CryptoPortfolio - Tracking Prices In Bitcoin

in #steemit7 years ago

A couple of months ago I shared a Google Sheets crypto template portfolio, based on the real tool I'm using to track all my coins. The latest BTC price surge was so fast and powerful that it dragged with it the price in fiat for the majority of the alts, giving the false impression that the alts also grew in rapport with Bitcoin. Which is false. If you look at the prices in Bitcoin for alts, most of them are down significantly.

So I thought it would be interesting to add a new column to the sheet, tracking also the value in BTC, not only the value in USD, given by coinmarketcap. The result can be found here and it looks like that:

So now you can use the sheet to track your fiat prices in real time, but also see the actual value in Bitcoin for each token.

If you want to use the tool, you can just click on the "File" menu entry and choose "Make a copy".

If you want to add a new token, you can just copy the two rows for an existing entry, paste them, and modify the token symbol. For the fiat price column, it's the coinmarketcap API, and for the Bitcoin price it's the cryptocompare API. If you need more details, just leave a comment with your specific question.

Steem on!

Wow very cool man :-D I have been using blockfolio over the past month and I love it but the prices aren't always very accurate and it was having some issues loading the other day.

Thanks for sharing your portfolio distribution. There's a couple on your list I have never heard of that I will investigate further. I am especially interested in studying more on bitshares. I see you have a 30.5 percentage allocation so you are obviously a believer. Are there any in your portfolio that have grown to a position that your feeling uncomfortable about and feel the need to reduce?

Thanks for the Analysis @dragosroua.

Thank You

This will be very useful when I get the chance to diversify.

Hi @dragosroua, This is true:

The latest BTC price surge was so fast and powerful that it dragged with it the price in fiat for the majority of the alts, giving the false impression that the alts also grew in rapport with Bitcoin. Which is false. If you look at the prices in Bitcoin for alts, most of them are down significantly.

In top 17 coins, there was just one coin that kept growing with the increasing BTC price and that is BCC. I have noticed this pattern now for at least 50 times and it's always the same. What's your take on it?

Not following very closely the BTC forks, so my knowledge (as well as my interest) is quite limited here.

Alright, no worries man. You're doing a good job.

yeah i remembered that spread sheet quite cool it is :)

Cointracking.info is a cool tool that shows this as well. Since this summer most of my alts are down 75-80% compared to BTC.
