Another Minor - But Cute - Steemit UI Improvement, And Why I Talk About These Changes

in #steemit6 years ago

As I was voting some of the comments on my posts, I noticed a slightly improved UI for the voting power selection:

The handle for the scale is a bit bigger, and the overall color balance has been adjusted (it's a bit brighter).

You may wonder why do I bother to bring to attention even the smallest improvements that are pushed into production for the Steemit UI.

Well, for months, last year, Steemit was more or less stale. Although it exploded like a fabulous new project in the crypto universe, being as high as number 3 on top 10, in July 2016, it kinda gripped. No need to talk again about the reasons (there were more than one, from whale-wars, to internal issues in the Steemit team), but the end result for us, early adopters, was that this young new athlete that just ran his first race went into a coma.

It was a very frustrating situation. For months, nothing happened, no news from the management or the tech team and, on top of that, the Steemit chat was more and more toxic (which is why I eventually left it).

This changed drastically during the last 4-5 months, and now we're starting to see updates almost every week. They may not be spectacular, but they are. It's like seeing that comatose young athlete recovering and starting to move a finger first, then the entire arm.

So, for those of you new around here (and even for the veterans, why not), I just want to point out that even the smallest change is a very good one and all the subtle improvements must be cherished and acknowledged.

The distance between a healthy crypto project and a comatose crypto project is very small. You may never know when another crisis may hit.

So, let's not only enjoy it while it last, but try to support it, by enforcing, acknowledging and giving credit even for the minor stuff, and make this whole Steemit organism a bit stronger and healthier.

As long as we see changes, no matter if they are big or small, it means the team is working to improve the platform. That is a clear sign things are on the right direction.
Sometimes, small minor changes can be the result of a bigger improvement not seen on the front end.

I agree with you.

Excellent mate!

Thanks for your continued support for this community. The world is toxic and only bad news sells like chocolate. Often, I depend on you and @steemitblog for updates.

Keep it up witness..

People come, write a couple of posts and leave this platform forever. But this is not because we have a logo of the wrong color or the slider is too small.
When a house has a rotten roof and floor, it needs to be repaired, it is not enough just to change the curtains or paint the door. Imitation of developers activity, IMO

Hmm, do you have more details about why the roof and floor are rotten? Also, some clear ideas about how they can be repaired? If ever?

I'm very serious and this is not an irony.

Sure man. Updates and development are appreciated even the minor ones.

I notice the small changes and it tells me things are moving along.
I don't have the slider yet but am looking forward to being able to do more upvotes than the 10 (takes way to long to get back to 100%).

The taglins and voting information at the bottom of the post also appear no matter what you are on the post.

when we would be able to use this button handle ..... really excited for that

Thanks for your suport.

say what? :))
