Seems to me that some of the problems you mention are solicited by the platform itself. If you offer people an opportunity to get paid, they will react by trying to get paid. The app "GasBuddy" exhibits similar problems, in that it holds out the promise of potential monetary reward, so users may simply invent fuel prices without bothering to check them for accuracy. It's the money they want, not accuracy. Steem encourages the same behavior.

I agree to an extent. I suppose I'm hoping that, being aware of greed, we can take steps to minimise the problems caused by it. The hope is that in a very different environment people might begin to unlearn all their shitty real world habits.
