Chalenge of Censorship - Question for Steemit board

Steemit is a very good network and growing more and more, but lately, I often ask myself, how will Steemit react when it finds itself under the pressure of a censorship? How will this social network react to the challenge of asking for censorship of certain content?
What will happen if, for example, US Senate Investigation Committee asks for a public hearing due to the alleged Russian influence on this network?
What happens if Steemit finds itself under attack, for example, the German law on the prohibition of hate speech, or under threats to sanctions, penalties for violating some laws of certain countries?
I'm very worried what will happen when that moment comes?
