you could actually buy ETH (ethereum) with fiat.. and exchange it to STEEM. check out Binance coin pairs. you will see that STEEM_ETH pair exists.
so its fiat --> ETH --> STEEM.
yes, you are right but the problem is same we cannot buy steem coin directly from flat currency.
