Why does Search Engine matters!?
Steem Value is related to how many new visitors Steem have per day/month. Search Engine listing is the n. 1 way to gain new visitors onboard.
More the new visitors.. better the chance some people with money will invest into Steem.
No new visitors.. no chance.
If we want Steem to do well we have all to take care of it!!
See spam, plagiarismo or articles with not sense around?! Post a comment and ask for article modification.
with @steemcleaners you can even be rewarded for spam catch.
Why are we still seing so much spam on the platform? It's our fault, community. We are not doing enough.

I'm pretty sure its being drug down by Bitcoin's problems not just crap posts. Google doesn't just see Steemit as one big website. It can see that there is individual users. When you look at your address bar you can see that Steemit.com is highlighted and the rest is kind of grey or dull. Now I agree I have followed a couple people I regret following but unless they have some bored friends they will not be rewarded for their crap posts.
@joeyknowsbest is right. The ENTIRE cryptocurrency market is down. Bitcoin is the back bone of all of it all. Most people used bitcoin to buy the other cryptocurrencies. If Bitcoin has problems all other cryptocurrencies are going to suffer. Right now Bitcoin is about to go through a change.

Steem is affected by bitcoin. I don't think steems success depends entirely on bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. It is a young market so the altcoins are definitely affected by bitcoin.

about 100 000 month . the average website with the same number of articles is getting 1 million visitors per month
:-) it will do better when we all pay more attention on how much text we write on posts and how we write the titles of the pages
it will do even better when most of us will stop posting spam or duplicate content.

Exactly. Right now sadly the price of Steem is tied to the overall market. Steemit on the other hand is doing good despite the price of Steem going down. People have confidence in the future of the entire platform or they would just leave now. I don't think anyone is saying article quality is unimportant. Have a good day.

SteemIT is different and cannot be compared to any other cryptocurrency ... the Steem Value is not depreciating only because the market is down.
Steem is what it is.. a new kind of social and blogging platform... Steem value can be up even when the other cryptocurrencies are failing..

That cannot be true because places like wix.com or wordpress.com are not penalized and they have a ton more crap sites on their domain. They have free websites attached to their domain with literally nothing on them and they are not damaged by it. Google's algorithm is very smart and can understand the separations between each username. Now don't get me wrong. Good posts and informative posts do benefit Steemit but not exactly in the way you think.
wix and wordpress are using subdomains.
steem doesn't. so, yes spam on 1 page penalizes how other pages are ranking on search engine results.
google algorithm is smart and could do it, but actually the domain is what matters. there is no distinction between username. do you have a spare Idea how much computing power they should use to achieve what you say!?

If what you say here is correct, and I'm a newbie just trying to figure all this out, then why don't people help out the newbies when they run across them with a tip or 2 to point them in the right direction? Aren't most of us all here for pretty much the same reason? Isn't it kind of like if one person succeeds then we all succeed - more or less? I know i'm learning what I can little by little. Just trying to understand how blockchain works and how you actually earn Steem$. I know there is a start here section and other sections to read all this. Which i will eventually get thru. Understanding it all is another story. Sometimes, a small tip from someone who understands all this is easier to follow.
I also agree with having quality content. I believe i that was one of the first things i read when i joined. Quality content also depends on what a person is interested in
Not everyone is going to be interested in the same content. For myself, i love seeing videos and pictures of people in other countries. Learning about their cultures and such. I'm not exactly interested in what a person ordered at a restaurant.
Many people have no clue as to what a blog is or even how to go about starting one.
We definitely need to work as one big team and support one another and help the newbies out when we can. This whole system is a bit overwhelming and quite challenging to learn when you don't have someone to kind of show you the ropes.
Anyhow, that's my 2 cents worth as an extremely green newbie.
This is an awesome opportunity for those who want to reach for the stars. Let's all get there together.
articles with good content are well ranked on google search engine listing. good ranking means new visitors which can one day invest in Steem currency..
now one of the current problems is that people is pushing posts with no content/text, memes, duplicated content or low quality text and this kind of articles switch ON the google penalization for the domain steemit.com - good quality articles ranking and chance to get new visitors with google is affected because of those posting spam and poor in text articles.
I'm with you @thorleyjo on the giving the newbies a tip or 2. I'm also a greenhorn in all of this, and as you said, I could look for all the links to help me through it, but with the time it would take and the output of effort for someone who doesn't know their way around these sites, it gets, well to say it like it is.....frustrating. And then sometimes there is the understanding what is said. Once again, frustrating. Just a hand up is all we ask, not a hand out.
Im new i am trying to put out good content and play buy the rules and have proper etiquette. It's tough the people plagiarizing I see all the time. I put @steemcleaners on one yesterday. Then the guy adds the link this morning and acts like it was there the whole time. It wasn't.
Unfortunately whenever there is money involved people will try and abuse it. Not everyone but some.

You're definitely not alone! It amazed me how I actually found alike minded people but their post is often depreciated while sometimes cute cat win over them. I think We should keep spreading awareness about creating atleast a decent quality content.

If this is so, how come Facebook has made so much money with all the crap published there?
because they have an Advertising system on the platform. Facebook makes millions with paid ads.

But it could have one, couldn't it? Also, there is plenty of great content on Steemit, yes there is a lot of crap, but I have found very informative articles, and I mean hundreds, so I guess there are probably tens of thousands of good articles on the platform.
Also I do believe somehow Bitcoin is bringing the price down it shouldn't because these blockchains are supposed to be decentralized, probably this is because you can only convert Steem to fiat by first converting it to Bitcoin. Also if your theory is correct, in March Steem was worth 7 cents and then exploded to over $2.50, do you think that during April and May people somehow decided to post good articles and that was the reason for the price increase?

The point is that search engine listing of all steemit good articles is affected by the spam ones, cause of the way the search engines works.

The answer I gave is because of the the new people using different channels:
Google search engine Listing is one of the most used way to gain new people discover your website since 2003.
Good top 10 ranking of Steemit articles means everyday new people..
But we have a problem... articles ranking on google is currently affected ... because of the spammy articles.
Google sees Steemit as a unique website. As the number of the low quality or spam articles grows... google penalizes the domain and the good articles used to be shown in top 10 for the keyword X... are now on page 2...3.. or even 10!! (meaning position 100)
What i think is, steemit needs to grow inside it self ( i see all of this as a test drive ) to prove that steemit is ready to handle millions of subscribers with out a glitch...... you can notice that it's like a child growing every day learning new word's & new roles .
Block chain is still relatively new we don't know the limits off it yet .
A simple fork like HF19 changed the behaviour of users they don't vote on comments any more they calculate it a lot it was not the case then .
So in a sense we don't know what works but it's the collected views and behaviour that drives us.
If you think there's the good & the bad in YouTube & Facebook ....... after all it does not mean that your words are wrong there perfectly write.
Steemit platform is a mix of technologies: old and new.
the point I would like to make with the article is that NEW visitors on the Steemit platform are important... some of these new people can be one of the next investors. or not?!
If so, if steemit have more new visitors it means more the investors, and Steem coin price going mantained or even going up.
Now, what are the ways to get new visitors?!
The ways to get new visitors are not anymore new stuff ... there are well know paths since 2003.
Most of one website visitors can come from Google searches.
Unfortunately Spam and Low Quality articles created everyday are affecting the search engine rankings of the helpful articles related to keywords that are in demand.
I see the point you are stressing . Yes you are right if the search engines see 's the site as single domain & act on it .
People who want to make money with Steem doesn't realize that the quality of the content posted is the most important part.. most of them are just posting funny things to get some upvote, but this kind of blogging doesn't produce any long term benefit.
It's just the limit of there capabilities & i am one of them . Hanging on hoping i will change .
Not everyone has experience & material but finding early about steemit you can't just watch .
