Steemit Must Fix Blog Promoting Feature

Steemit is a revolutionary decentralized social blogging, networking, and media platform. Users get rewarded for their content, engagement, and their stake in the platform. In addition to decentralization another appealing factor of the platform is lack of ads. Platform is enjoyable to use not only for rewards, but also they don't have to be bothered with ads that annoy most of the time and drain the internet usage data on their devices.

That doesn't mean ads are not in the equation of the platform. They are very much a necessary part of it, at least in my opinion. However, unlike the traditional annoying ads, Steemit ads have a functional role. Users get to choose whether they want to interact with ads, and their selective interaction with ads is rewarding. Hence, advertisers compete for users attention with better rewards.

For advertisers to be able to exist within Steemit platform, they will have to either acquire Steem and/or Steem Dollars. They can choose to hire current users, and/or themselves become users. In any case they will have to cash in, which will create higher demand for Steem and Steem Dollars as a result all users benefit with their net worth increasing in dollar value.

In my humble opinion, advertisers will start pouring in once Steemit reaches one million user base. That number is significant, because at that time company will realise that number of audience is worthy of their advertising dollars. It will be a domino effect; after first million user base is reaches platform acceptance will accelerate and companies will start designating larger portions of money from their advertising budget.

My concern is that Steemit is not ready for that. Promote feature does not work at its current shape. Surely, burning Steem Dollars sending to @null is a great way to do it. But if advertisers or whoever is trying to promote their content are not getting expected results this experiment will fail. And if does fail it will be too late to fix. That is why I believe developers should pay great deal of attention to it right now.

My solution is instead of burning the Steem dollars used for promoting content by sending it to @null, that money should be used to distribute among users who interact with that content. That way more users will be encouraged and motivated to interact with advertising content. Everybody wins.

Great simple & easy to read blog!

Thank you

Those are some good insights on promotion.

But I am not sure if sending SBD to @null is same as burning. But even if it is I think it will have the same effect as distributing it to content creators because somebody is burning the SBD means that the believe in the future of the platform and hence they are burning it for some intended output. Since SBD is burnt it will reduce the amount of SBD in circulation and hence increasing its value.

While we apply the same analogy to FIAT money it might sound weird, this might be true in Cryptocurrency world.

Interesting idea ! We will see if this is possible in the future. For now, like you said, it's not ready yet !
@trendo

It is possible and vastly beneficial, just need community leaders' attention
