If Bitcoin = Gold, Then Steem = Silver

in #steemit8 years ago

Gold [Bitcoin] is more scarce than silver [Steem], and thus mined at a slower rate.  Silver is still relatively scarce, but it’s important to know that silver tends to tarnish over time and can devalue if not properly stored [powered up].

Gold is more durable, more predictable, yet due to its nature, it’s less practical to build out certain applications with it in the present.  Silver, on the other hand, is utilized today in all sorts of applications [Steemit] in our society.

Silver is actually built inside computer chips, but many don’t even know it’s there.  It may be just a little bit to start, but it’s technically free, even if it would take a while to cash in [power down].

Soon we will see new applications of silver.  Augmented reality has become a hit out of the gate with PokemonGo.  Someday, silver will be inside all of our AR/VR glasses or contacts, and every time we upvote a comment on a random news article with our eyes, we will be interacting with an application of silver [Steemit 2.0].

Meanwhile, gold will serve its array of use cases, as a store of value, a unit of speculation, a payment vehicle, or even for its simple collector value.  Its own applications are even coming along as well, but they will take time, too long for us silver pioneers.

Gold and silver each have a big role to play in improving our lives, so long as we choose to embrace them.  By getting others to utilize gold and silver you are showing them applications of these things they have never thought of before.  And in the process, you may even be improving their lives, as well.

Litecoin already has dibs on 'silver', right?
