I think a referral system wouldn't only make the referrers rich, but since the pie would be getting bigger, the price of Steem would rise even more. Therefore making shareholders of steam currency richer as well.
It's almost like there is already a referral system where the entire community profits from the work of a referrer. That might be unfair but leaving the system the way it is could just as well be the right way to go.
I don't think a referral system could hurt in any way, really, especially if the rewards are small. Thanks a lot for leaving a real comment. :-)
Yes, it could still be extremely profitable, even with small rewards :)
